Is your thoroughbred finishing racing?

Here at Layven Park we offer a comprehensive package to ottb’s transitioning to sport life.

We currently have a couple of options and are happy to discuss and even negotiate either depending on the saleability of your horse and it’s current condition. The market for ottb’s is low and slow so we ask very low prices and focus on the right home and fit for the horse, every horse that spends even a day here comes at a cost to us and if owners are not prepared to assist with costs we cannot continue to offer this service.

What you can expect;

• Your horse will be wormed on arrival
• Your horse will be checked over by a vet
• Your horse will be shod by a sporthorse farrier
• Your horse will receive a dental unless you provide up to date dental records
• Your horse will be paddocked alone or with one other
• Your horse will receive daily hard feed and hay
• Your horse will receive appropriate rug changes
• Your horse will be handled and ridden 5 times per week

If you can provide farrier, vet and dental records these are direct costs that can be saved.

What we expect;

• You fill in an incoming horse form and disclose all known prior injuries, behaviours, current condition and anything we need to be aware of to keep ourselves and your horse safe.
• You fill in an SR24 officially retiring the horse and passing them into our care.
• You pay a one off fee of $500 plus GST prior to arrival, or you can opt for $25/day (less than spelling fees) for a maximum of four weeks. The day rate might be attractive for horses you believe will find a home fast. NZTR assists us making these rates possible.
